ACCOMMODATION This Venetian building has absorbed in the passing centuries additions and modifications from the Turks and the Cretans. Traces of its stormy history are quite a few, and the memories are ingrained into its stone walls. The respect, tradition and passion imposed in its five year restoration have restored it into a monument of life, "The Castle of Ageliana". A building of 550 square metres which carries in its soul a history of centuries, yet still offers all the modern comforts. In the stone built yard next to the wood burning oven, the swimming pool offers the visitor a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that one looks for on their vacation. The interior decoration with its antiques, blends harmoniously with the traditional olive oil press mill and the cellar of local Liatikou Cretan wine, which is situated next to the French dining room dating back to the previous century. The living room, with its striking double arches, impressive sculptured fireplace that stands between the French pool table and the piano. The fine lined stone stairs, that you come to after passing the fountain and stone well will lead you to the four bedrooms that have been named after the local regions, Archondisa, Melisokeri, Myrte, Vrisida.
Archondisa with its 9 windows, wooden cypress floors, the unique decoration and the stone built fireplace give an essence at the same time unique character. Melisokeri, Myrte and Vrisida with the feeling of freshness and colour, private fireplaces and bathrooms with jacuzzi, create and unforgettable rejuvenation.
Finally, the castle's private butler is the man who will provide the healthy rich Cretan breakfast.
Taking a walk through the hospitable village of Ageliana you will come across houses built with a unique architectural style, green pastures with olive trees, orange trees and vineyards. A 100m from the village you will find a mini market, taverns and traditional coffee shops. The town of Perama with its medical centre, banks, super markets, pharmacies, restaurants etc. is only 3km from the village.
The provinces capital, Rethymnon, with its 35,000 residents, port, museums, venetian fortezza, beach-side coffee shops and restaurants, lies just 23km from the "Castle of Ageliana". The distance to both of the islands airports Heraklion and Chania is only 70km.
